On June 11th, Community Pride in Blacksburg sponsored an evening event at The Lyric Theatre in Blacksburg, Virginia. The entertaining roster of performers included musicians, authors, and drag queens. I read from one of my latest essays, “The Insurrection Beard,” which recently appeared in Rural Education and Queer Identities: Rural and (Out)Rooted, edited by Clint Whitten and Amy Price Azano. Many thanks to Community Pride in Blacksburg and to Clint Whitten for including me!
